Bioremediation of petroleum hydrocarbon contaminated waste (oily waste) and other hazardous wastes.

Petroleum hydrocarbon contaminated wastes i.e. oily wastes (i.e. oily sludge, oil contaminated soil/water/land/lakes/drill cuttings, oil based mud, etc.)  are highly hazardous and toxic to the plant, animal and aquatic ecosystems as well as human health, which pose a serious threat to and a major challenge for hazardous waste management.

Various conventional methods, like landfilling, incineration, air sparging, soil washing, etc., available for remediation of oily waste are not eco-friendly, not cost effective and not a permanent solution for environmental pollution.

Bioremediation has been proven to be the most promising, cost effective, ecologically friendly and efficient treatment technology for the oily waste.

MIEBRS has been providing the most eco-friendly, efficient, faster and cheaper bioremediation services by applying its proprietary site specific “Oil Degrading Bioremediation Agent”.   The basic advantages of our process are:

  • The process is executed by periodic supervision and guidance of our scientists by routine site visits.
  • We undertake bioremediation of even the smallest quantity of oily waste in one batch.
  • We also provide technical support to client while communicating/meeting with regulatory bodies.

We undertake turnkey projects on bioremediation of solid and liquid waste with defined scope of work depending on the quantity of waste to be treated. Till to date, more than 6,500 kL oily waste (oily sludge and oil contaminated water) has been undertaken for bioremediation by MIEBRS at various oil installations of HPCL (Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd.), HMEL (HPCL-Mittal Energy Ltd.) and BPCL (Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd.), including BPCL Mumbai refinery, in India. Average time for our bioremediation treatment is around 4 months from the date of first application of oil degrading bioremediation agent on the oily waste. The treated waste meets the risk based cleanup level as decided by the federal regulatory authority of the respective country. The treated soil has been proven to be non-hazardous, non toxic and highly fertile on which seasonal crops and flowers have been grown successfully till their fruiting stages.

Our scientists are highly skilled in the execution of bioremediation projects in oil fields in India and overseas, especially in the Middle East. Our bioremediation technology is customized process specific to type and concentration of respective waste components. Hence, it is applicable for any types of hazardous solid and liquid waste generated by various industries like, oil & gas, pesticide, paint, dye, textile, pharmaceutical, automobile, vegetable oil industries, etc. and also waste generated by the vehicle repairing/servicing workshops, industrial shutdown & maintenance activities; etc.
